Announcing The Best of Us our new project based in Newington, Ramsgate, working in collaboration with Newington Big Local. With artist-in-residence Nova Marshall, we hope to uncover stories from Newington’s past and present, demonstrating the strengths people show and the positive values they hold, such as courage, kindness and empathy, through a variety of arts activities.

Nova will uncover these stories with the help of creative champions and create workshops, art, pop up sessions and other activities based on the theme of The Best Of Us. The creative champions are local people of any age who are keen to get involved in developing exciting events and activities for the Newington area.

Nova Marshall

Nova is an experienced artist educator devising and delivering a number of workshops, projects and events in collaboration with schools, galleries, arts organisations and community groups. She enjoys and believes in the ‘artist-as-facilitator’ process of empowering others, allowing people to use their own imaginations, giving them the confidence and the motivation to make a positive contribution. An important element of her practice as an artist working with others is around authentic voice, participation, ownership and collaboration.
Nova graduated with a BA (Hons) in Fine Art from the University for the Creative Arts in Canterbury and is Co-Director of a community interest company, aim4.

“I am delighted to be working with People United and the community of Newington from the children in local schools to the various interest groups as part of ‘The Best of Us’ project. I am really interested in getting to know Newington and working alongside the community to uncover and discover stories that demonstrate the best of us as human beings. Together, we will find interesting and exciting ways to tell these stories.” Nova Marshall
