It’s our 10 year anniversary and we’re doing something a bit different.

To kick off our 10 year anniversary in style, People United is launching a very special artist commission. We are really proud to announce that we’re trying something a bit different: co-commissioning with a fantastic group of people that we’ve had the pleasure to get to know very well in the last 18 months. Newington (Ramsgate, Kent) has been the location for our large-scale community-led arts project The Best of Us, and working closely with Newington Big Local, and the project’s Creative Champions, we have been getting up to all sorts of creative mischief. Together, in 2016, we want to commission an artist to do something spectacular, inspirational and unexpected in Newington.

The community have voted on the theme and it is kindness. At People United we see kindness as encompassing connection, humanity, compassion, respect, neighbourliness – a wonderful intention and action to help and benefit others. We are looking for an artist who can tell the story of kindness as well as be a catalyst for it.

Find out more and read our 10 year anniversary edition of the Artist Commissions brief here.

The deadline to submit proposals is midnight, Sunday 6 March 2016.
