People United at Tate Modern
We’re really excited as a Tate Exchange Associate to be working in partnership with Valleys Kids, Canterbury Christ Church University, Whitstable Biennale and the University of Kent’s School of Politics and International Relations to bring an interactive, thought provoking and entertaining week to Tate Exchange at Tate Modern.
Fairgrounds were sites of exchange that enabled traders to buy and sell their goods but that also drew together diverse populations in carnival, excess and play. The component parts of these traditional fairgrounds will be playfully updated and transformed to give a thoroughly new twist on this space of exchange. As the week unfolds there will be unusual stalls, unexpected tours, pop-up performances and plenty of opportunities to get involved. And, expect to have a lot of fun as we explore different forms of exchange between art, politics and ideas.
People United’s stall – For Me, For You, For Us – invites us to think about our choices and actions towards ourselves and others whilst creating a collaborative work through exchange. We’d love to see you there. Come and visit us at Tate Exchange, Switch House, Level 5, Tate Modern.
We’ll be there from 11 – 15 April, 2017, 12-6pm
