World Kindness Day 2018 | #proudtobekind

A year on from the #bekindsigns campaign

In 2017 People United gave away ten LED neon ‘be kind’ signs to inspire acts of kindness across the UK and start a #BeKindSigns revolution. People around the world created their own ‘be kind’ artworks and displayed them on World Kindness Day. The campaign spread between Texas and Scotland, from big signs on schools fences to delicate daisies spelling out the words ‘be kind’.

On Tuesday 13 November 2018 People United celebrated World Kindness Day by collecting and sharing reasons why people are not only kind, but proud to be kind and the campaign picked up great momentum with over 20 organisations getting involved.

The campaign is about celebrating kindness as a positive character strength, not a weakness, highlighting stories from individuals, workplaces and groups who are #proudtobekind.

People United believe that there is strength in arts and kindness and our research  shows that the arts can grow the conditions of kindness through increasing understanding of emotions, connections, learning and values.

This campaign urges you to make a stand, to be an ambassador of kindness and be #proudtobekind. How to get involved:

  • Tell us your #proudtobekind story with any photo or use our poster.
  • Make your own #proudtobekind sign in any art form.
  • Record and send us a short video starting ‘I’m proud to be kind because…’ and share it with us!

Share your #proudtobekind artworks and stories with us on social media not forgetting to tag People United and use the hashtag #proudtobekind

We’ll be sharing and reposting your stories throughout the year. If you’d like to get in contact with us about the #proudtobekind campaign or get involved by sending us your images or videos (for those of you not on social media) please email Charlotte at [email protected]

Our friends over at Kent Children’s University have a whole host of resources/challenges that you can also get involved with: http://www.kentchildrensuniversity.co.uk/cukent/home/kcu-challenges/kcu-proudtobekind-challenge/
