Ben works for the Carnegie UK Trust, an organisation that exists to improve the wellbeing of people in the UK and Ireland. Over the past three years he has been leading a programme of work that has explored the importance of kindness for personal, community and societal wellbeing.
This has included quantitative and qualitative research on people’s experiences of kindness and on the conditions that enable or inhibit kindness in different settings. It has also led to the development of networks and partnerships with stakeholders across the UK to examine what can be done to encourage kindness in our communities, in our organisations and services, and in public policy.
Outside of Carnegie UK Trust, Ben is the Convenor of Edinburgh Garden Partners, a community organisation that creates connections and builds relationships between people who want a space to grow and those who have garden space to share.
