Clare Callan

Creative Producer / Deputy Director

Clare is a Creative Producer and Programmer who has worked in arts and culture for over 16 years. She joined People United in October 2020 from Free Word, a London-based organisation and venue that explored the power and politics of words through art, writing and activism, where she was responsible for seasons such as All the Ways We Could Grow and Finding Power in Isolation. Prior to this she was the Director of Programme and Communications at Tamasha, leading the development of the company’s creative programme, engagement and profile. She has also worked for Apples and Snakes, Future Shorts, Birds Eye View Film Festival, The UK Green Film Festival, Alpha-ville Digital Arts & Culture Festival Underbelly and the Barbican.

In 2014, she completed an MA at Goldsmiths University focussing on the intersection of arts, film and urban environments and has a keen interest in research.

Clare loves working collaboratively and non-hierarchically and aims to listen, learn and take risks, whilst being playful, self-reflective and open.

She is proudly a mentor for Arts Emergency.
