Jaweria Abdal is a foreign qualified lawyer specialising in International Human Rights Law with a distinguished career dedicated to advocating for vulnerable groups. With 8 years of experience in delivering specialist advocacy, developing strategic partnerships, and holding institutions accountable, Jaweria has worked towards advancing the rights and safety of women and girls in vulnerable situations.
Currently serving as the Head of No Recourse to Public Funds & Advocacy Services at Southall Black Sisters, Jaweria overseas service delivery, strategic implementation and organisational development aimed at providing wraparound, holistic support to victim-survivors of domestic abuse and other forms of gender-based violence. Her role includes leading safeguarding efforts, representing the organisation in multi-agency forums, and fostering collaborative partnerships to address systemic barriers faced by Black, minoritised and migrant victim-survivors. Jaweria has previously worked at Kent Refugee Action Network as Advocacy and Support Manager.
