Josie Carter
Associate Producer
Josie Carter is a poet and artist based in Folkestone. Since 2020, she has been working as a convener and producer of socially-engaged artworks and community projects, with a particular focus on working in solidarity with people on migratory journeys on both sides of the Channel. With organisations including Art Refuge, the Refugee Women’s Centre and Napier Friends, she has been a support worker, community organiser and artist-facilitator. Her collaborative and co-designed projects have been showcased by Kings College London, Dulwich Picture Gallery and Autograph ABP, among other settings in the UK and abroad.
From January 2024, she has been Creative Producer at People United’s project The Studio, working with young people from KRAN to commission and co-design public artworks.
Outside of work, Josie can usually be found devising weird performance poems at The Margate School (where she is studying for a Masters’ in Fine Art), swimming in the sea, or trying to fix her typewriter.
