Looking back on People United's first national symposium.

On 12th November 2019, on the eve of World Kindness Day, we held our first national symposium entitled Provoking Change: The Arts and Kindness Conversation.

The day was filled with international speakers, round table discussions and the creation of a World Kindness Day pledge.

Provoking Change: The Arts & Kindness Conversation also marked the beginning of a new chapter in People United’s history with the launch of our third research report (Taking Care) and its accompanying creative toolkit (Navigating with Kindness) in which we share our unique methodology and approach to working with arts and kindness.

The day itself was full of collaboration, conversation, and connection, and we’re so pleased to be able to share a snapshot of what was discussed more widely in this short film created by Spark Film:

Speakers at the event included Miranda McKearney OBE, Founder of Empathy Lab, R.M Sánchez-Camus, Artist and Artistic Director of Applied Live Art Studio (ALAS), Michele Gregson, General Secretary of the National Society for Education in Art and Design, Matt Peacock MBE, Founder and Director of Arts & Homelessness International, Bernadette Russell, Artist and Storyteller and many more.

We also invited More Than Minutes to record the day with these fantastic visual minutes:
