Futures of Care Manifesto

In 2021 People United collaborated with youth leaders at Kent Refugee Action Network (KRAN) and Pie Factory Music, 16 – 20 year-old refugees at KRAN and artist Soofiya to co-create a Manifesto of Care. The manifesto explores what we care about, what we wish for and what we want to change. It functions as both a “make your own manifesto of care” kit and poster.

We have included alt-text for these images, which outlines the key details. Below is an audio description of the Manifesto which provides a more in-depth description as well as full narration of the text.

Through prompts, the manifesto invites the reader to create their own Manifesto of Care. A PDF of the Manifesto can be downloaded at the bottom of this page or on our Resources page.

In December 2021 it was distributed to 180 young people across East Kent including 30 young people at KRAN, 120 young carers via Dover smART Project and 30 young people at Pie Factory Music as part of Creative Care Toolkit Packages. In 2022 many of the young people who received these will take part in workshops, using this manifesto to collaboratively create their own Manifestos of Care.

The manifesto is the starting point for the wider Futures of Care programme taking place in 2022, exploring how we can collectively imagine new ways of caring.
